Power
Troy-Bilt TB4BP features a 32cc 4-cycle engine which offers quite a lot of power – air speed up to 150 mph and volume of 480 CFM. It`s not a commercial grade machine, however it provides enough power for a typical homeowner use. It`s able to blow large piles of leaves easily and can deal even with wet stuff.
It starts very easily, mostly on the first or second pull, the noise level is also acceptable (72 dBA). On the other hand, some customers complain that the engine is regulated to a smaller RPM to lower the noise instead of maximizing its power.
So as we have already written – it has enough power for a homeowner use but don`t expect miracles.
4-cycle
This blower is has a 4-cycle engine which means several advantages and also one disadvantage. Firstly there are no smelly fumes and very little vibrations, also you don`t have to mix gas with oil like with 2-cycle machines which makes it a lot easier to operate.
On the other hand you have to adjust the valves after about 3 hours of use (it`s described with pictures in the manual).
It comes with a 20-ounce fuel tank which is large enough for most jobs – but could be bigger.
Construction and weight
The TB4BP is not heavy and thanks to the ergonomic design of the backpack and padded hip belt it is also very comfortable to wear. The official product description mentions also a fully-tensioned suspension system – its design is nothing spectacular, however it does a very good job in distributing the weight of the machine evenly.
Overall, the backpack system is on a very solid level, you won`t experience problems even after several hours of use.
The assembly is also easy, only the tubes are a little difficult to twist together. The throttle is mounted on the tube and is comfortable to operate.

Conclusion: Troy-Bilt TB4BP is a good quality backpack blower – starts easily, is very comfortable to wear and offers a solid power. Great choice for any homeowner, we can recommend it. However if you need even more power, the Husqvarna 350 BT will be the ideal choice for you. |
